The following is a list of Recycling materials mandated by Statutes of the State of Connecticut. State Statues require the following: all material listed must be separated from household trash. Pursuant to sec.22a-24lb. any resident not in compliance may be subject to a fine.
Following items are not collected at curbside and must be brought to The Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 475 Asylum St.
- Corrugated cardboard - Lead acid storage batteries (cars) - Nickel-cadmium batteries - Scrap Tires - Waste Oil - Grass Clippings

- Glass and metal containers (food & beverage only) -details below - White Office Paper - Newspapers - Magazines - Leaves (compost)- details below
Please read and comply with the following. Recycled materials will be collected at the curside. Recycling is scheduled for pick-up on the same day as a person's household trash, but is in alternate week increments.
Newspapers, Magazines and white office paper- Tied in Twine or placed in paper bags. No plastic bags are permitted in the recycling bin.
Plastics- #1 and #2 food and beverage plastic containers only. No 5-gallon pails, no plastic continers other then #1 and #2 types.
Glass- Food and Beverage containers with lids and caps removed. No broken glass, no drinking glasses, glass vases, Pyrex, mirrors, or light bulbs. no window or auto glass.
Metal- Food and beverage container lids removed. No paint cans, coat hangers or metal household items.
*LEAVES- Leaf pick-up is on the same day as your recycling and collected by our Roadway Department. For more information, contact the Roadway Department at 576-7124.
